New study highlights the Quality of Life of adults with high support needs

As part of our ongoing efforts to share relevant knowledge, the Ageing-Autism Project is pleased to highlight an important study led by Plena Inclusión Madrid and the Autonomous University of Madrid.

This research focuses on individuals over the age of 45 with intellectual or developmental disabilities and high support needs living in the Community of Madrid.

Key insights from the study:

  • The importance of adapting supports and services to the changing needs that emerge with ageing.
  • A call for personalised approaches that recognise both the challenges and rights of ageing individuals with disabilities.
  • Evidence that can guide policy, practice, and resource allocation in inclusive ageing strategies.

This study is a valuable contribution to the broader conversation on how to ensure a dignified and fulfilling life for people with high support needs as they grow older.
